Customer FAQs

Why online tuition?

One-to-one tuition is the best way to ensure students get the most from their lessons. Signing up to online tuition means no matter where in England you live, you can access the services of high-quality tutors. TuitionWorks is part of the Supporting Education Group, the UK’s leading education services platform, giving us access to a large number of the best teachers in the country.

What makes TuitionWorks Specialists?

We are solely focused on one-to-one online tuition. Our tutors are the best in the sector and are supported by the largest education services business in the UK, Supporting Education Group. They each have continuous access to training and development tools, a record of delivering fantastic results, and a desire to meet the needs of every student.

Are all TuitionWorks’ tutors Fully Qualified Teachers (FQTs)?

No, we have a range of qualified teachers and subject matter experts available to discuss your learning requirements. All our tutors are experienced, professional, and fully vetted. They understand the needs of their students and how to get the very best out of them.

What safety checks have TuitionWorks implemented?

All our tutors have been fully vetted and have up-to-date enhanced DBS checks. Every lesson is automatically recorded and safely stored for safeguarding purposes. If you have any concerns over something that happened in a particular lesson, please contact us at enquiries@tuitionworks.com and we’ll investigate. Please note that we generally do not access lesson recordings unless requested.

How do I book a free assessment?

Booking an assessment is easy.  Simply contact us to book a free meet-and-greet, and once that’s been booked in we’ll send you an assessment. Your tutor will use the results to tailor the content of your initial meeting.

How is the assessment provided and completed?

After you’ve booked your meet-and-greet, you’ll receive an email with a link to the online assessment. Clicking on the link will open the assessment in your web browser; please note that we recommend using Google Chrome.

What does the assessment consist of?

Each of our online assessments use the national curriculum as a guide to test where a student’s knowledge and understanding is strong and where improvement may be required. They consist of multiple-choice questions covering several maths, science and or English topics, depending on your subject choice, and generally take no longer than 15 – 30 minutes to complete.

What happens with the assessment results?

We will send assessment results to your child’s to be covered in the meet-and-greet. Your tutor will use the assessment as a guide for a personal lesson plan.

How do I request a specific tutor?

If you like the look of any of the tutors on the ‘find a tutor’ page, click on their photo then the ‘book’ button on the next window. We’ll then ask you to fill out a short enquiry form; please be sure to include the school year group of any student(s) you’re enquiring for.

Do I have to request a specific tutor?

If you want to book in lessons and are not decided on a specific tutor, one of our Customer Success Team will be able to help you find the right one. Simply contact us via the enquiry form or email enquiries@tuitionworks.com

All our tutors are fully qualified and vetted teachers with up-to-date enhanced DBS checks. Students can participate in lessons without adult supervision; however, it is possible for you to sit in on a lesson if you would prefer. Our tutors will always have their webcams and microphones switched on, making them accessible and understandable. Students do not have to appear on webcam if they do not want to.

How long is each lesson?

We recommend booking in an hour per lesson to ensure students get the most from them. If you would like to book lessons for a different duration, please let us know in the enquiry form or by emailing enquiries@tuitionworks.com

Do I have to pay for additional resources, such as textbooks?

For supported device and network requirement information, see page 17 of the TuitionWorks Classroom Space Handbook for Students by clicking here.

If you would like to check a particular device’s suitability, please email enquiries@tuitionworks.com with details.

How do I track learning progress?

Your tutor will provide a lesson report for each completed lesson. This will be automatically emailed to the paying client for that lesson and will also be available in the TuitionWorks Dashboard.
